How can these NJ politicians be so clueless about the needs of the 21st century workforce. We need flexibility. The 70million plus workers - a majority of the workforce- do not want to be tied down to an employer. Business booms when a company can be nimble enough to get new clients by using independent contractors. Perhaps NJ lawmakers should stop taking so many donations from unions and put themselves in the shoes of NJ independent contractors. At a minimum look at the pain and millions of dollars wasted litigating CA AB5. We need a law to preserve the right to freelance. How about a law making it easier for independent contractors to buy those "employment" benefits they deem best for themselves.

Does it do any good? My husband is a w2 person and doesn't have a clue how or why this is a big issue. When Biden ran for the presidency in 2019 he said one of the first things he was going to do was sign The Pro Act. I told my husband that I could never vote for a person who could throw so many American workers under the bus. How do we educate the w2s who would support us if only they could understand the importance of this issue. Thanks for your hard work.

The people pushing freelance busting caught Californians off-guard six years ago. Californians tried to unify and fight back, but it was too late. It became every profession for itself, trying to get exemptions. What's different now is that independent contractors are not being caught off-guard. And with every attempt the freelance busters make, state or federal, our side only grows stronger as more people learn what this all means. Exactly six years to the month that Gavin Newsom signed AB5 in California, the opposition to this proposed rule in New Jersey is overwhelming and unified across all ages, races, genders, political affiliations... The 99% opposition is incredible, exactly what we've been saying should happen for years, and it's happening right now. So to answer your question, yes, I think it does a lot of good to speak out about this policy problem, and I think the support we have all been hoping to see is actually happening right before our eyes now in New Jersey.
